Position Objective
The Scientist II, Manufacturing Sciences will carry out lab scale experiments to support new product introductions, raw material evaluations and process improvements.
Essential Functions
Perform multistep organic synthesis.
Characterize and analyze organic or inorganic compounds to determine chemical or physical properties, composition, structure, relationships, or reactions, using chromatography, spectroscopy, or spectrophotometry techniques.
·Operating general laboratory instrumentation, such as HPLC, LC/MS, NMR, MS, GC, GC-MS, UV-Vis, FTIR, and fluorescence spectrophotometers
Education:
This position requires a minimum BS degree in Chemistry or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Experience/Requirements:
Requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Organic Chemistry performing operations such asreactions, filtrations, distillations, extractions, chromatographies, crystallizations, and material transfers
Must be able to work safely, produce reproducible results, and thoroughly record and report all relevant data
Must have strong communication, presentation, interpersonal and teamwork skills
The Scientist II must demonstrate a sense of urgency, contagious optimism and a “can do” attitude while building effective partnerships with internal customers and colleagues.
Working Conditions:
Works in a laboratory environment.Is required to lift up to 40 lbs.May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties.Must be able to work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials.Must be able to work overtime and flexible shifts.
