          Duties & Responsibilities Primary responsibilities of this position include managing programming efforts for targeted large projects, specifically the AIDS Clinical Trials Group, within CBAR and to coordinate and supervise Programmer Is and IIs that manage other CBAR projects. The person will prioritize and delegate statistical programming resources for projects, and will oversee and perform systems analysis, complex analysis programming and user support. The person mentors Core Programming staff and manages programming-related education (both internal and external) for SAS Programmers, Biostatisticians and Epidemiologists. The person is involved in the recruiting process for a large staff and in evaluating applicants for analyst positions. The person is acting Head of the CBAR Programming Core when the Head is unavailable; represents the Programming Core on CBAR and Network committees; coordinates targeted activities with the Data Management Center in Amherst, NY and interacts with other external offices as needed, undertakes other high-level activities as directed by the Head of the Core Programming Section such as writing and updating policies and procedures.
          Basic Qualifications Minimum of Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Math, Computer Science or Statistics. At least 5 years of solid SAS programming experience is necessary. Demonstrated knowledge of project management and supervisory skills are required. Ability to program in UNIX and similar high-level languages is necessary.
          Additional Qualifications Experience in a clinical trials setting strongly preferred. This experience should include proficiency with the SAS macro package and ODS. Ability to independently and efficiently prioritize many concurrent projects and tasks while meeting frequent deadlines required. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with individuals from a variety of disciplines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, as well as a high attention to detail.
