Description of Duties/Qualifications
=Develop a workable, practical design from concept development through completed design. Design tasks will be of a complex technical nature requiring application of basic engineering design principles and practices.
=Evaluate alternative approaches to develop solutions of design problems from a design and engineering perspective, under the guidance of the lead designer or mechanical engineer.
=Identify critical areas of the design, perform and document complex interface tolerance computations to assure proper fit of mating components, allowing for vendor fabrication process capabilities.
=Assists in the selection and recommendation of components and manufacturing processes for engineering approval, which will meet design criteria of function, quality, reliability and cost.
=Evaluate inputs from vendors during design of components to ensure manufacturability and interface with vendors to facilitate development of the designs.
=Provide design requirements for project scheduling, and status reports on progress of design effort to the Project Team.
=Address issues from, and provides information to Purchasing, Reliability, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Service to ensure that design will implement smoothly into production. Assure the completion of the design drawing documentation package of the project.
=Oversee implementation of new or improved manufacturing methods, standards, testing, procedures and tools and equipment designs to improve operating performance, reduce waste and delays, and achieve the most economic and high quality manufacture of products.
=Must have a broad base of skills and experience in electro-mechanical design techniques, basic engineering principles, materials, processes and standards. In-depth CAD design knowledge and strong three-dimensional modeling skills are required. Candidates need to be proficient in Solid Works and familiar with IEC, UL, and other standards related to medical equipment is an asset.
=Must have good communication and organizational skills
-Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
=Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
=Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
=Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
=Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, A Bachelor's Degree with 3-6 years experience
