Duties & Responsibilities
This position manages a sponsored research post-award portfolio including oversight/management of financial policy, compliance, and reporting issues that arise during the life of the award. This role interprets complex terms and conditions and applies understanding of federal regulations in order to perform QC checks on new awards and modifications; captures essential reporting requirements; schedules/reviews financial and nonfinancial reports. Timely financial analysis, reporting and invoicing of sponsored awards; reviews cost transfers; may review refunds; is responsible for coordinating A/R and collection activity as well as account reconciliation and closeout. Conducts regular post-audit reviews of expenses and performs follow up; participates in the ID of training gaps, develops/delivers training as required; assists w/audits for sponsored awards when necessary; mentors other team members and develops/identifies best practices and business process enhancements. As a member of a team, provides superior customer service to clients and establishes effective partnerships with sponsored research colleagues.
Basic Qualifications
BA/BS or minimum two years equivalent relevant financial/accounting experience. Advanced knowledge of Word and Excel required.
Additional Qualifications
University or grants management experience preferred (thorough understanding of federal regulations as they pertain to compliance). Strong interpersonal and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail, strong problem solving and analytical skills, and ability to review and analyze financial data. Must be comfortable serving as a member of a service-oriented team in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism. The ability to prioritize, handle large volumes of work and flexibility essential. Oracle experience is a plus, as is a familiarity with University financial software. Ability to work under deadline pressure and strong commitment to customer service are essential.
