PURPOSE:
The Director, Business Development will be responsible to identify and win new business, develop customer penetration strategies, provide leadership in the planning and implementation of market and customer penetration strategies in order to cultivate and capture new large deal business opportunities that enable Flextronics to exceed revenue and profit expectations.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES:
The Director, Business Development will:
Prioritize large deal targets, determine quality and alignment with segment strategy and strengths, create and execute successful penetration plans.
- Establish and lead matrix teams to develop comprehensive, innovative, and proactive proposals and project plans.
- Analyze and understand customer strategies, future product plans, expansion activities, and competition to develop solutions to customer challenges and create new business opportunities.
- Cultivate customer relationships, deliver effective proposals, and negotiate complex contracts to capture profitable new business.
- Ability to engage in C level customer conversations.
- Effectively brief and leverage executives on strategy and tactics to enhance customer relationships and consummate deals.
- Ensure proposal objectives and deliverables maximize operating profit and revenue growth.
- Successfully negotiate difficult and/or critical business matters, through interaction with executive level managers both internally and externally.
- Take appropriate levels of risk and make decisions that have significant business impact.
Represent and provide market exposure for Flextronics at industry events, conferences, and trade shows.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED (MUST-HAVE) QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in sales, business development, business management, or a related discipline; MBA preferred.
- Five plus years of Progressive experience in business development roles, electronics contract manufacturing and selling to the Appliances Industry experience.
- Seven plus years of progressive experience in business development roles; electronics contract manufacturing required
- Knowledge of program management, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations functions, and strong financial acumen.
- Dynamic builder of relationships with customers, with track record of identifying new areas of opportunity and negotiating complex business deals for mutual benefit.
- An effective communicator with customers, executives, peers, and subordinates, commanding respect and creating a lasting impression.
- Strategic out-of-the box thinking, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
- Takes ownership and consistently delivers on commitments.
- Well versed in all MS Office applications.
- English fluency is a must; multiple language capabilities are a plus.
- Significant travel.

- Requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Requires a minimum of 3 years of operations or related experience.
