          Purpose/Objective:

          Under the direction of the Commercial Credit Underwriting Manager, the Commercial Credit Underwriter II analyzes and summarizes applicant statements to facilitate lending decisions onmiddle market loan requests ranging from $5MM to $20MM. Investigates and analyzes credit risks. Prepares credit related reports for presentation to loan officers and provides recommendations regarding financing requests.

          Key Accountabilities:

          Prepares concise written reports to facilitate lending decisions on new, renewal, and extension loans and other bank facilities,for middle market borrowers with loan requests in the $5MM to $20MM range. Reports include a recommended credit rating, summary of facts, identification of key borrower and industry risks and mitigating factors, as well as a complete and accurate statement of the bank’s borrowing relationship. 35%

          Analyzes and spreads financial statements and tax returns to assess the financial condition of existing and new borrowers and their financial viability. Assesses the adequacy of collateral. Analyzes and assesses trends, ratios, and cash flow. 20%

          Works closely with loan officers in evaluating more complex credit requests and preparing term sheets, which may include accompanying them to visit customers, prospects, and collateral sites. 15%

          Obtains and reviews pertinent management, industry, financial and collateral information from the credit file or outside sources. Determines additional information/investigation needs and contacts appropriate sources to ensure a complete analysis. 15%

          Acts as resource to less experienced credit staff. 10%

          Assumes additional responsibilities and duties as necessary to ensure department objectives are met. 5%

          Education:


          • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business

          Experience:


          • 3+ years credit analysis experience, preferably in the banking industry, on moderate to complex transactions for both middle market C&I and CRE lending

          • General business experience in accounting or finance

          Skills & Knowledge:


          • Strong analytical skills

          • Strong knowledge of both financial and managerial accounting

          • Computer skills (Word, Excel & Power Point)

          • Strong written/verbal communication skills

          • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
